Can I hire you for only a few hours on my wedding day?
If you’re eloping, having a quick courthouse ceremony, or an extremely small gathering at the beach or in your backyard then the answer is – definitely! My hourly rate for these types of events starts at $400. If you’re having a wedding with 100 guests or more that includes a ceremony, portraits, and reception then I’d reccomend at least a 6 or 8-hour package. I’m a storyteller and my style is to tell a full story from beginning middle and end. I’ve been to a lot of weddings and to me, some of the best moments of a wedding day happen before and after the ceremony itself. I’d cringe at the thought of my couples not getting images from these priceless moments.
Do you always shoot with a second photographer?
It depends on the wedding. My advice to you is if you’re wedding day is split up into multiple locations or you have a large guests list, then it’s wise to add-on a second photographer. I have a handful of professional wedding photographers at my fingertips that are happy to work with me on a wedding day. Although I feel very comfortable in my ability to shoot a wedding alone, two photographers make my job easier at large weddings or weddings that last over 6-12 hours. This means I’m less stressed and able to focus on the job at hand. It means two sets of eyes, 4 cameras, two sets of equipment, two bodies to be two places at once, and someone to help me with family portraits so they go smooth and quick. I’m also glad to have an assistant for the comedy relief, an ear for listening and problem solving, a partner-in-crime to drive the getaway car, and to be somewhere that I can’t because I am, after all, only one person. 🙂
Why do you photograph the rehearsal dinner?
Rehearsals are free-of-charge and come complimentary to 8-hour wedding packages as well as wedding’s I’ve traveled for. It’s something I throw in as sort of an extra gift to my clients and most importantly it is a great time for me to see the venue if I haven’t been there before, meet the bridal parties and the immediate family so that by the wedding day everyone is already used to me and my camera. That, and it’s a chance to get familiar with names and faces too. The bonus for you is that you get complimentary digital copies of candid images from the night.
Do we have to take engagement photos?
An engagement photo session is included in 8-hour wedding packages but otherwise, it’s an optional add-on. I can’t say enough about why I LOVE engagement sessions. First of all, this time allows you to get comfortable in front of my camera and also get to know me as not just your photographer, but your friend. It’s also such a great opportunity for me to get to understand your relationship, so that I can better tell your story on your wedding day. It’s also a great chance for you to get more casual, stress free, creative photos during another season of the year (snow! fall leaves! spring flowers!) and at some of your favorite spots. Wedding days can be so hectic, that it’s fun to get portraits when the family isn’t around, your dress isn’t heavy, and your schedule isn’t so pressing. PLUS there are limitless ways to use your engagement photos (wedding invites, decor for your home and wedding, guest books, etc.)
How many images do you shoot on a wedding?
My weddings aren’t measured by a number of images created, but rather the moments captured. Sounds cheesy, but it’s so true! I don’t strive to shoot a certain number of pictures, but if we’re talking numbers, I typically send a couple anywhere from 500-800 images (rehearsal included.)
When can we see our pictures?
Your wedding images are put onto an online proofing gallery within four weeks of your wedding day. These images are the ones that have made the final cut, been retouched, and are ready to be shared with friends and family. These proofs are available for immediate download in both high and low resolution and are ready to print and share with your guests on social media as you please. The prints and USB take an extra two-three weeks before they are delivered.
For portrait sessions, images will appear on the proofing site up to 2 weeks after your photo shoot. Digital files are available to download at this time as well.
Do you travel?
Yes! And there are ZERO travel fees!
I currently call Portland, Oregon my home, but most of my work over the last few years has taken place all over the United States (and abroad!) I love to photograph in new cities and would love to come to yours! So, no matter where you live, I’d love to hear from you. Travel within the contiguous United States is all inclusive for my full-day wedding rate (6 or 8 hours). And if you’re planning a destination wedding, elopement, or need a photographer for your honeymoon, you might just be my new best friend! Why free travel? Because I want this process to be easy for you and for me. I also want to visit new places and photograph cool couples – no matter where they live. I’ll book the flight, the rental car, and find a place to stay – you don’t have to worry about any of it! Plus, if I travel for your wedding – I’ll come to your rehearsal/rehearsal dinner for free. Special pricing is available for elopements and weekday weddings too!

Do you have a studio?
The world is my studio. The way I photograph, and do most things in life, is with simplicity. So lets hop in a car, or train (or boat!) and go somewhere real. Lets strip away the fancy lights, fake backdrops, and cheesy poses and use your home or your favorite hiking trail, as our canvas. Lets take photos in the coffee shop where you met your husband, or in your pj’s with your kids in the morning.
And if you’re looking for a place to meet up and chat with me, you name the time and place and I’ll be there. We can grab a cocktail or dessert and chat over album samples and wedding schedules.
Do you have gift certificates for portrait sessions?
Yes! I can customize a gift certificate to meet any of your needs.
