Cristina + Noah | Court House Elopement | Portland, OR.

I'm just going to say it: I love a no frills, no bullshit wedding. Cristina and Noah do too, which is why they came to me when they wanted a photographer at their courthouse wedding in Hillsboro, Oregon just outside of Portland. It always blows me away how much emotion and heart is felt on the day of an intimate elopement or small celebration, compared to an all-day affair. There's low stress, which leaves more room for laughter, happy tears, relaxed portraits, and lots of quality family time, which is what Cristina & Noah had at the local pub shortly after these pictures were taken. I quickly learned over coffee a few months ago that these two are so sweet and so happy together and that this wedding is just a small moment in time compared to the big life they will share together. I feel incredibly grateful they chose me. Congratulations guys!

I was so lucky when Shannon and Justin came into my life. I knew from the very beginning that they didn't do anything according to expectations from anyone else. Because of this, their relationship and their wedding day was one-of-a-kind. There was no fuss over picky details or a rigid schedule. In fact, the day was so relaxed we had time to order a pizza and leisurely eat a couple slices before heading to the lake. If you're a wedding photographer you know how rare and amazing this is! In short, Shannon and Justin really just wanted a pretty mountain view and to drink beer with their closest, dearest friends and family. That is exactly what they got.

Shannon and Justin are the kind of couple I love to photograph because they treat me like family and also fully trust my vision. So much so that Shannon asked me to ride along with her two days before the wedding to pick out a spot for the ceremony at Andrews Lake. Shannon and Justin are also awesome because they had not one but two "rehearsal" dinners that weren't really rehearsals at all, but rather an excuse to drink beer. If you remember, this is the same couple that brought beer on their engagement shoot. Are you sensing a theme here? I like these guys. I am so happy for them!

Jill + Cole | Robert Newell House | Portland, OR. Wedding

First of all, anyone who trades cake for pie at their wedding is A-okay in my book. Secondly, I can't say enough about the Robert Newell House and what a sweet, intimate venue it was; the perfect background for such a fun couple and joyous celebration. Jill and Cole's wedding was so incredibly photogenic down to every last detail. Dark clouds hung out in the sky almost all day and threatened rain, but not a single sprinkle fell. Instead, the clouds filtered the most gorgeous light onto everything it touched - a photographer's dream. And Cole's face when he first saw Jill? Priceless.

Jenn Byrne asked me to tag along with her for this wedding as an assistant. I LOVE being a second shooter and I loved being one for Jenn. She's a hoot! (And a really great photographer too!) I don't always share photos from weddings I assist but I couldn't help but share a few of my favorites from this one. Thanks for an eventful Saturday Jenn. Lets do it again soon!
