Aaron & Maia | backyard wedding | Portland, OR.

.

This was my favorite wedding of 2016. Am I allowed to say that? It's just that I LOVE an intimate backyard wedding. I LOVE September weddings. And I love Maia & Aaron. From the very beginning, our relationship was effortless, often meeting for wine or dinner to discuss the details of their day. Being high school sweethearts, their love was rooted deep, lending itself to a wedding day that was just as relaxed as it was emotional. There wasn't a dry eye during the ceremony and because of the less rigorous schedule, we had plenty of time to wander the property and take portraits. Guests traveled from all over the world to spend a few days with them in this vacation rental south of Oregon City. It was the perfect backdrop for such an occassion. Congrats to these two lovebirds!

Special thanks to Helen Bernard Bakery for the cake and to Deb at Wilfs Resturant and Bar for single handedly cooking up a storm. Everything was delicious!

petals for days

Spring Petals on instagram | Portland, Oregon Wedding, Food, and Lifestyle photographer

Happy first day of spring! Spring came early in Portland. For months already the days have been sunny, sundresses have been worn on many occasion, and there are petals for days. (I call it nature's confetti.) Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a game of Candy Land where the trees are full with soft clouds of sugar-whipped candy. Scott was right when he said that spring is better here. domain name search availability I disagreed at first, but as the weeks unfold I couldn't agree more. lately

The word "full" keeps entering my mind lately. At random moments in my day it will come forward in my mind and it's the only way I know to describe things. Our house has been full of friends and family over the last several weeks, but even in the emptiness of company when Scott and I are ending our night cuddled under a blanket on the couch falling asleep to episodes of Flight of the Concords, my heart feels full. We built a new kitchen table (I need to share pictures!) and the simple change of having dinner across from one another and not on the couch, awkwardly with pillows in our laps, has made such a difference. Our home feels full, especially in the mornings when the Autumn light filters into each empty room. It's a sign of change, something I welcome in the Fall as I turn a year older, the skies are darker, and the air is cool. My calendar is full with work too, something I feel exceptionally grateful for.

Here are just a few snapshots I've taken lately:
