Kelsey + Volker | Sleeping Beauty Ranch, Durango, Colorado Wedding

I have dug deep and thought hard about what words and pictures to use to share Kelsey and Volker with you and I have come up short. There are not enough adjectives in the world to describe the pure, honest love that pours out of these two. I am humbled to have been asked to be a part of their lives and I am even more grateful to now call them very, very good friends.

A year and a half ago I received the most delightful email from Volker telling me of his love story with Kelsey and of their common obsession to mine with the Friends TV series, noting that it must be an "important sign" for us to both own the entire 10 seasons on DVD. (Find this and other odd facts about me on my website.) Volker also told me that photography was the biggest priority for their wedding. (K + V are wedding photographers too!) Kelsey grew up in Durango, Colorado. Volker is from Germany. They met in New Zealand while both studying for university and after an extended time of dating long distance, Kelsey moved to Germany and the rest is history. They couldn't be more perfect for each other and they couldn't have been more perfect clients for me too. After a year of Skyping and emailing we met up in Colorado in June for the week of the celebration. They took me rafting before the wedding rehearsal with Kelsey's HUGE family and all of their friends from Germany. We bonded over our love for tacos and burritos and braved a massive hail storm on the day of the wedding that cleared up just in time for some of the prettiest dewy light and some of the hardest partying that I have ever seen. Peter + Richard | UK Wedding Anniversary

These guys are two of my favorite people on this planet. Hands down. I can't believe it was one year ago that I was in England, be-bopping around in their little car visiting one charming English town after another. More importantly I can't believe it was one year ago that I earned the title "International Photographer Extraordinaire to the Gays." Such an honor. But seriously, Happy Anniversary Peter and Richard. I can't wait until our next adventure!

I'm moving to PORTLAND!

Dear Durango,

We didn't get along very well at first, but here we are five years later and damn if I'm not a little nostalgic for the time we've spent together. You have been the backdrop for heartache, finding new love, a lot of mistakes, making a ton of life-long friends, learning to be bold, outdoor adventure, and the place where I truly became an adult and blossomed as a professional photographer. You are one of my true loves, but it's time for a change.

I'm dusting off the ole blog today to explain to you why it's been so quiet around here. Scott and I have been talking for over a year about making a big move and several weeks ago, after some unexpected changes in work, he and I decided to stop talking about moving and MOVE. We're moving to Portland, Oregon! Once the decision was made and the date was picked, our lives felt flipped over and shaken up. We've been selling everything in our house, finishing up lose ends with clients, working our two weeks for second jobs, having goodbye parties, and planning a MASSIVE ART SALE. It's been busy, to say the least but we're SO excited. SO EXCITED for a change. Look out Oregon, here we come!
